I saw this billboard and I liked how the model has her hands over her heart and is looking off frame with the look of love. I stood on the corner for a while hoping someone would walk by within the scope of her gaze. When this fellow came by, I only had time to get two fast shots before he disappeared into the street.
He went by so fast and I shot so reflexively that I did not think either of the shots were going to be any good. No problem, I thought. I will return tomorrow and give it another try.
Well the next day, of course, the billboard was gone and replaced with a completely different, and uninspiring, advertisement. It was a reminder of the importance of being in the “now” and taking the shot – even if the attempt seems futile – as the opportunity may never present itself again.
When I finally got around to checking my photographs, I was very pleased and relieved that both shots came out well and that the very first one was the keeper.
