New York City is often portrayed through its landmarks, crowds, and relentless energy. Drama, Dreams, and Delirium looks instead at the psychological experience of moving through that environment, where reflections, advertising, architecture, and fleeting encounters merge into layered portraits of contemporary urban life.

The photographs use shop windows, office towers, buses, and other reflective surfaces to reveal moments in which reality and illusion coexist within a single frame. Rather than manipulating the images through Photoshop, artificial intelligence, filters, or double exposures, Xiomaro records these visual juxtapositions as they occur, allowing the city itself to create unexpected relationships between people, objects, and space.

The resulting photographs resemble collages in which faces, symbols, text, and architecture overlap to suggest questions of identity, alienation, memory, perception, and the roles individuals perform within a densely populated and highly commercialized society. Familiar locations such as Times Square, Penn Station, Broadway, and Radio City become stages where private thoughts and public life appear to intersect.

Like much of Xiomaro’s work, Drama, Dreams, and Delirium is less concerned with documenting appearances than with exploring how people experience place. The photographs invite viewers to linger over scenes that unfold in an instant, discovering visual connections that often go unnoticed and reflecting on the ways identity is shaped by both the environments we inhabit and the perceptions we bring to them.
