Xiomaro’s street photography image, “America Beyond November 7, 2028,” was accepted by the Stirling Photography Festival, an annual event in Scotland. The photograph will be included in the Festival’s Beyond 2025 commemorative book. “It’s exciting to have this thought provoking piece included in the Beyond collection,” wrote Zephyra Durkin a Scottish filmmaker who is part of the festival’s team. The organizers sought out photographs displaying literal or interpretative outside-of-the-box thinking in response to the theme of “Beyond.”
The photograph depicts a window reflection in Manhattan and will be included in Xiomaro’s book, Street Photography of New York City: More Street Haunting—Drama, Dreams, and Delirium for release in 2027. A confusion of iconic symbols appears in the image—the flag, Coca Cola, the Wells Fargo bank. Lightbulbs spark dual thoughts: “What will America look like after the 2028 presidential election given the present political and economic uncertainty? As influential billionaires race to advance AI, will the technology threaten democracy by eroding trust in information and amplifying polarization?” Does the dreamlike photograph foreshadow the nightmare beyond?
