Red

Red is a juried exhibition dedicated to one of the boldest colors in the visual spectrum. The gallery selected 26 photographs from global submissions in which red commands the frame. Subject matter ranges from crimson sunsets and scarlet city lights to intimate portraits of passion, danger, and resilience. Genres include documentary, fine art, abstract, and experimental photography.

Xiomaro’s Reykjavik was created after the artist returned from Greenland, where he had completed a photojournalistic project documenting what happens when ordinary communities suddenly become globally significant. During a stopover in Iceland, he spent a morning wandering around Reykjavik to create a street photography series inspired by the city’s vibrant color palette. The image was the very last photograph he made during his travels.
