Theodore Roosevelt:  "How I Love Sagamore Hill"
   

     As would be expected, the bedrooms and bathrooms of the second floor -- even when relatively vacant -- impart a greater sense of intimacy particularly in small details that would have come into direct contact with the family:  faucet handles, door and window latches, an old fashioned speaking tube and typewriter.  The words "Door Locked," scrawled in paint on the door by one of the boys to warn sister Alice from trespassing, remains as a silent witness to childhood squabbles.  Some furnishings were still in the rooms.
A particularly poignant juxtaposition was seeing the baby cradle left next to the bed that TR passed away in.
