Longfellow - The Spirit of Poetry

These photographs, some of which are still being fine-tuned, are from Longfellow - The Spirit of Poetry, which is the first fine art photographic collection documenting the relationship between the creative output of this world-renowned poet and his home.  The project was commissioned in 2014 by the National Park Service and is the first such collection in the history of the park.  Many of these large images will be juxtaposed with verses Longfellow composed at his house thus giving new life to, and appreciation for, his iconic poems.  Like poetry itself, the photographs invite exploration - objects and meanings are not revealed by one glance.

Please note that these photographs are actually a lot warmer than they will appear on your monitors, which are not color-calibrated, cast a bluish tone and are too bright for viewing photographs properly.  You can approximate what I see in my studio by using the largest monitor you have available (e.g., desktop monitor rather than a laptop), lowering the lights in the room and turning down the brightness of your monitor.  Most PC monitors can be lowered by holding the "Fn" button (between the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys) while tapping the “F6” key.  When you are done viewing, you can return to your original brightness level by holding the "Fn" key and tapping “F7.”
