These are digital scans of photographs I made using a 19th century process called wet plate collodion. 
The first and last photos are Ambrotypes because the collodion process was applied onto a plate of glass.
When the process is applied onto a sheet of metal, as in the second photo, it is a Ferrotype (also known
commonly as a Tintype).  Looking at the scans, it's hard to appreciate the nuances of the originals. 
The image of the human skull, for example, has a sense of depth since it appears on glass.
