This debut solo exhibition features 22 photo ceramics that apply a modern twist to an old idea.  In 1877, J. Alden Weir, the father of American Impressionist painting, formed the Tile Club with other iconic artists for the camaraderie of creating hand-crafted decorative tiles.

Rather than painting on 8” square crème-white tiles as Weir did, adhesives and finishes are brushed over photographic prints to fuse them onto black 4”, 6” and 12” ceramic tiles.  These photo ceramics have a luminous surface and the accidental effects from the flow of the stippled brushwork impart an individualized antiqued texture to each piece.
